The glamour maxi Lahana owned by Peter Millard and John Honan has kicked of her Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race campaign in fine style taking out line hours and the overall win in today's race, the first of the two day CYCA Trophy Passage Series in Sydney.

Lahana left the the rest of 23 strong fleet for dead as she smoked around the 18 nautical mile course that had the yachts rounding a mark at Long Reef just north of Dee Why. Millard said this afternoon they were "smokin'" all the way to Long Reef and back, sailing upwind to the mark before setting a spinnaker for a speedy run back home to the finish line in Watsons Bay.

"It was light at the start," Millard said. "The nor'easter was at around eight or nine knots. We tucked in close to Manly on the way out of the Harbour (two thirds of the fleet followed suit) which gave us a good line to the turning mark. Then we had a fast run home when the breeze topped out at 15 knots."
