It's Official : Container On It's Way To Australia - Breaking News

Further to our initial report last week it is now official now that the ink has dried on the contracts. Jason Van Der Slot co owner with John Williams of Calm, from Melbourne's Sandringham Yacht Club has successfully negotiated the purchase of the German TP52, Container.

Van Der Slot is currently in transit with tactician Barney Walker en route to Port Stephens for the NSW IRC Championships due to commence on Friday as part of the Sail Port Stephens regatta. where he will race his Calm.

This means that the Australian TP52 fleet of fifth generation hulls has now swollen to four. Watch out Shogun V and Hooligan and their sistership Georgia Racing.

Calm has racked up some pretty impressive results recently including being the eighth boat (and first IRC52) over the line in the 2011 Rolex Sydney Hobart  race and finished second to Georgia Racing at the Festival of Sails in Geelong in January.
