Bob Steele's Quest finished second ahead of the GP42 Accenture Yeah Baby followed by Jason's Van Der Slot's Calm in fourth place.

Stephen Ainsworth's Reichel Pugh 63 Loki, the overall winner of the 2011 Rolex Sydney to Hobart and the largest boat in the fleet, disappointed and only managed a seventh. The major casualty of the regatta is Shogun V who never even made it to the start line after her bow was delaminated on the delivery trip from Queensland.

Owner Rob Hanna was not a happy chap when he was told the news just before boarding a flight to Newcastle. It put has put a real dent in his program leading up to the IRC Australian Championship in August at Hamilton Island.
