The 316 strong fleet will gather for the largest mass yacht race start in the southern hemisphere on the eastern shores of Port Phillip Bay at 9.30am for the traditional 34 nautical mile passage race to Geelong.
IRC favourites include the glamour IRC 52 Shogun V, recently acquired by Geelong yachtsman Rob Hanna, Living Doll, Calm and Georgia.
THe forecast is for a 15–20 knot southerly breeze, which means the fleet will make it to Geelong in time for the massive Australia Day celebrations hosted by the Royal Geelong Yacht Club.
