Artemis Racing Advances to Semi-Finals

In today’s match racing qualifiers the French team Aleph was the team to beat, winning all three races to face Artemis Racing in the final race of the day. The all-important match to determine who would move into the semi-finals on Friday.

Skipper Terry Hutchinson’s match racing skills came into play early on and the French team copped a penalty just before the start. The racing was intense but due to a technical issue with the onboard light system the race was abandoned half way through.

The Race Committee swiftly sorted out the issue and re-started the race in the increasingly light and foggy conditions. The pre-start played out almost identically to the previous race with Aleph incurring another penalty.

The race was on and Artemis Racing led up the course, but it was a cat and mouse battle. The Swedish team prevailed and will be back on the race course tomorrow for best two out of three races against Team Energy

"Hats off to Aleph and Pierre because they sailed two great races. We were a little bit fortunate in the first one as we had a pretty comfortable lead and then our onboard lights went off. A bunch of stuff happened to the Race Committee so we had the re-sail that race. As we know, it is never over 'til it's over and I think at the last top mark we had a 200 meter lead and Aleph came right back into us. It was dicey and a good team effort” Hutchinson said.
