The practice race got underway without any glitches as the fleet headed off into 14 knots of Garbi sea breeze with Quantum Racing charging ahead of the fleet followed by Bribon right on their tail. The American boat under the steady hand of helmsman/skipper Ed Baird lead Bribon around the first mark followed by RÁN hot on their heels.

Things got a little more interesting when the the nor'east Mistral blowing in the Gulf of Lyon caused the swell to kick up, causing challenging conditions both upwind and downwind.

Audi Azzurra Sailing Team worked their way steadily around the course to snatch third behind RÁN.

Gladiator is back and returns to the circuit  for the first time since Marseille. With owner Tony Langley on the helm and Italian wind wizard Tomasso Chieffi  calling tactics, they tackled the fleet after a solid start and first beat to round the top mark in fourth before dropping back.

Bring on the real deal. Racing commences on Tuesday.
