Bribon Bounce Back in Race 3 - MedCup Cartagena

Bribon bounced back from their disappointing result in the previous race to win Race 3 of the Region of Murcia-Cartagena Trophy by smoking Niklas Zennstrom's RAN by a second on the finish line. With that win the Spanish team now leads the regatta by just one point from Synergy Russian Sailing Team.

The testing late afternoon conditions were a balancing act between a favourable shift offshore, to the left, and pressure inshore to the right. Bribón lead around the first mark but was overtaken by RAN after an inspired first run restored the mainly British crew to second at the leeward gate.

They managed to get inside Bribon as the pressure fell on the approach to the final windward mark, but Bribón were able to sneak across the finish line a second ahead of RAN.

Just three points separates the top four boats overall in the 52 Series after three races, all contested in winds which have yet to reach 10 knots.
