Three different winners in today's three races, contested in a puffy sou’easterly breeze of 9-19 knots, has shaken up the overall results in the Marseille Trophy.

Gladiator followed up yesterday's victory with their second winning gun in a row while Bribón added their first win of the regatta in race two. Audi Sailing Team powered by All4ONE’s clocked up up their first win of the season with a gun to gun morale boosting performance.

The wind blowing down off Mont Rosa swept around both sides of its rugged limestone flanks, peppering the race course area with extreme pressure differences and keeping tacticians on their toes

“You have to stay in the pressure.” said Gladiator's Kiwi tactician Chris Main.

In the day’s first race Gladiator repeated the winning strategy they employed in Race 6 by gaining extra pressure offshore. By picking the right hand side of the course on the first upwind leg they built a decent margin over Container who finished second in 9-12 knots of breeze

In the second race it was the left side which worked for Bribon who held off a challenge from RAN when the wind pressure was much more up and down.

By late afternoon the clouds rolled in and under darker skies the breeze peaked further east, to the left looking upwind, the inshore side of the course closer to the city, had significantly more pressure.

ALL4ONE's Jochen Schuemann, Seb Col and navigator Philippe Mourniac unleashed a perfect pin end start and accelerated out to the preferred left. Once they crossed the fleet again to protect their favoured side they were able to round the top turn comfortably ahead and sail their own race ahead of Container.

In the third heat Gladiator collided with RÁN in a port-starboard mix up in which the Swedish flagged boat ended up effectively tacked from starboard in front of Gladiator. Gladiator’s bowsprit bobstay struck RAN’s transom cutting the deck and transom material. The infringement caused RAN to be disqualified by the jury while Gladiator were later granted redress, average points for Race 7.

Despite missing out on a bullet, Quantum Racing's consistency enabled them to extend their overall lead in the Marseille Trophy regatta by three points.
